Character designs are good as well as the whole presentation of the game. But game play still needs work, it's still clunky. I don't like the whole slow over animation thing. That's why your getting these matches with a lot of flailing normals and it's not just that the players are bad. That and it looks like they added some dial in combo strings or something. I still need to read up on that but my caring level is way too low. Kyo gets no height on his kicks for some odd reason but that's just minor if his super still connects some how.

I have to agree. Even though the game is in it's loke test stage, it still irks me how some of the flow for the combos work. Mind you, I am not a huge KOF buff, and I don't know everything there is to know, but my initial opinion is that the system doesn't look amazing. The graphics and the characters are amazing, but the system still seems kind of off. Not liking that clash shit either, but we will see when the game comes out. Could be a surprise.... Huh

Basically the characters move around like it's Art of Fighting and there is a critical counter genei jin. LAWL

I'll admit that there are a lot of things that I'm not liking.  Hence why I'm not looking forward to the game as much as I was when they first announced it.  Still though, I'll definitely play it.  If anything, I'll just accept it as a new game.

I just really hope that after all this time and money it just doesn't become another disposable title for the KOF franchise. Sure I'll play it, I almost play any fighter, but will I put time into it? Probably not if it turns out poor.

Nothing like poring months of energy into a game only to have it become obsolete in no time flat. It's like learning magic tricks but instead of having the ability to do them anywhere, they need to be done with a modded PS2 and on a game nobody plays. Tongue

Well honestly, I'll be surprised if this game really picks up here outside of the usual niche KOF crowd as much as I would like it too.  I'm still looking forward to trying it out but it looks like it'll remain exclusive to casual tournies and grudge matches.

It seems like the system  looks like a mixture of Art of Fighting and King of Fighter elements. Speed wise, it seems slower than the usual KOF, but not as god awful slow as Art of Fighting. In some of the loke test vids, some combos did not seem to flow well at all (and they were B and B combos from previous games). But then again, some of those old combos may have been taken out of the game. I just hope that they don't heavily centralize things around chains ala Maximum Impact.

Ya, that sums up how I feel about it.

They're showing some KOF XII matches right now on the Devastation live stream and just thought I'd mention that for those who thought the SFIV english voices were bad, the KOFXII ones are a THOUSAND times worse.

First impressions not impressed.  Netcode is worse than sf4.  Gameplay is alright so far but unless I'm not finding them the characters seem to have a very limited move set.  Probably me not finding the moves.  Hopefully it'll improve in time.

I bought it today too and played a little with a friend. It was alright. Luckily the game looks completely beautiful otherwise I'd probably be more disappointed with it. I agree with the move sets feeling restricted, especially with Elisabeth. She was my favorite from KOF11.

The characters do have limited movesets.  They tried going the SFIV route of simplifying the game by shrinking the character roster and each character's moveset for the sake of balance.  It also explains the lack of emphasis on presentation which is unheard of in KOF.  What they didn't seem to realize is that while SF was best in it's simplistic times, KOF was best when.......it was KOF98.
